Otter Point is a private 3 acre waterfront peninsula surrounded by gorgeous shoreline and stunning views in Gorge Harbour on beautiful Cortes Island. Warm red arbutus trees, majestic Douglas Fir, mossy headlands, and protected waters, embrace you during your stay. We can accommodate you in a luxury B&B suite in our Mediterranean-style Villa or in our west-coast log-cabin (Fernwood Cottage). Whether you prefer to sit on a deck chair admiring the views, meditate on a mossy bank under an arbutus tree, or read on a wooden bench tucked in to the salal, you will find a relaxing and private place to soak in the ambiance of this wonderful west-coast getaway. You can explore the shoreline, swim in the warm waters, launch your kayak from our easy boat launch, enjoy the basket ball court, or use Otter Point as your base to explore all that Cortes has to offer.
Otter Point is located in Gorge Harbour, on the west side of Cortes Island. It offers interesting and protected waters for exploration, and is a fantastic starting point for kayak and boat trips to Desolation Sound. Otter Point has a private deep water dock and a boat launch for kayaks and personal watercraft. There’s lots to explore in the Gorge, including petroglyphs, and hidden coves.
If you like wildlife, Otter Point and Cortes offer exciting wildlife viewing possibilities. As the name suggests, we are a favorite visiting point for a family of local otters. You can sometimes find them eating lunch on the dock. A huge variety of birds spend time in this area including the belted kingfisher, bald eagles, osprey, oystercatchers, loons, mergansers, harlequin ducks, and many more. Our breakfast deck is also a favoured visiting site for Rufous, Ruby Throated and Anna’s Hummingbirds.
